Using Windows 10 for a little bit over a month now, I feel like I’ve already spent more time using Windows Store apps and games than during the whole time I used Windows 8.1. Probably the most important reason for this change are the “windowed” apps, which make them just much more usable on notebooks and desktop PC’s. That’s why I’d like to share some of my most used Windows 10 apps in this article.
I barely used the Twitter app for Windows 8.(1) because it was just a terrible experience. But Twitter actually developed a quite nice Windows 10 app which is just fun to use. Now that we have this great Twitter app I almost never use the Twitter web client anymore.
If you haven’t already downloaded Twitter for Windows 10 you can do so here.
With Windows 10 also the Microsoft apps got better and are just beautifully designed. One of them is the MSN Weather app which in my opinion looks just fantastic. And by having a large live tile of it on my start screen I can see all the important information just with one glance.
The mail app in Windows 10 is just massively improved compared to the one found in Windows 8.1. It’s much more clear and easy to use – again especially if you’re using a mouse and a keyboard. The Windows 10 mail app is my go-to mail client – even though I also have Outlook 2013 (which is just too complex for my usage scenario). But of course the app isn’t perfect and just until recently I had big troubles with syncing, which was very annoying. Luckily, the latest updates to the Mail app and/or Windows 10 fixed those problems.
Another Microsoft app I use much more often than I did in Windows 8.1 is the new MSN News app. It just nice to quickly see the most important news from different sources together in a more or less nice looking app.
This is one of the best third-party YouTube apps for Windows 10 in my opinion. The app runs very smooth and is also very nicely designed. You can find the app here.
GT Racing 2
For someone who loves racing games this game developed by Gameloft is one of the better games found in the Windows Store. Although I have to say it doesn’t run as stable as it did in Windows 8.1 so I hope the developers will further optimize it. Nevertheless this is a fun game. You can download it here.
Those are just a few of the great Windows 10 apps I use regularly but of course there are also more apps to download in the Store. Which apps do you use often in Windows 10? What apps are looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
