Unsurprisingly Microsoft has presented the Surface Pro 4 on the big hardware launch in NYC today. The 2 in 1 device makes the Surface Pro 3 better in every aspect without losing anything.
The display has grown to 12.3 inches but the Surface Pro 4 is not bigger than the Pro 3 because the bezel became smaller. It is also thinner and lighter as its predecessor (8.4mm thin, 786g light). The accessories of the Pro 3 are compatible with the Pro 4 and the other way round because size of both devices is the same.
As expected the Surface Pro 4 comes with the new Intel Skylake processor generation. The cheapest variant is powered by an Intel M3 processor, the other variants by an Intel Core i5 with Intel HD-graphics 520 and an i7 with Iris graphics. The most expensive and powerful variant of the Surface Pro 4 comes with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage. The storage of every variant can be extended by a micro SD card.
The display of the new device was updated too. It has now a amazing resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels.
According to Microsoft the new Surface is “the thinnest and most powerful” 2 in 1 device ever created and is 30% faster than the Surface Pro 3 and even 50% faster than the MacBook Air!
But Microsoft has not only enhanced the device itself but also the accessories. The new Type Cover has bigger spaces between the keys and the touchpad is 40% bigger. Moreover the Surface Pen was improved as well. It comes in 5 colors and head of the pen can be changed now. Furthermore you can erase the things you have written with the back of the pen now. In general the Surface Pen should provide a better and more natural writing experience. The battery of the pen is big enough for using the pen for one year.
The Surface Pro 4 will be beginning to be available on October 26 for a price of 899$ which includes the Surface Pen but not the new Type Cover. You can pre-order the device now.
