Yesterday Microsoft has released two new builds for their Insider Program. One of the two builds is the new Windows 10 Mobile Build, the other one the Windows 10 Desktop Build.
The new PC build has the number 10576 and comes in contrast to the new Windows 10 Mobile Build with some new feature. Most of them are for Microsoft Edge. The browser now supports Media Casting. This means that you can now use Microsoft Edge to cast video, picture, and audio content from the browser to any Miracast and DLNA enabled device. Furthermore you can ask Cortana now also inside PDF documents opened in the browser.
Microsoft has fixed some problems of previous builds. The Xbox app for example will not use gigabytes of storage on your device anymore and the search box should work in this build even when you are in a region where Cortana is not available. The localization should work better in this build as well.
Nevertheless there are also some issues in the build. When you get new notifications in the Action Center the volume gets reduced by 75% for a short period of time. You will not receive notifications about missed calls and text messages from Cortana anymore when you don’t upgrade to this build.
After upgrading to this build, all your Skype messages and contacts are gone in the messaging app. Workaround:
- C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataLocalPackages
Microsoft.Messaging_8wekyb3d8bbweLocalCache - Delete or rename the “PrivateTransportId” file.
- Then restart the Messaging app.
