The year 2015 is already going to be over very soon and therefore TheWinDuck team likes to present you their highlights related to Tech and especially to Microsoft and all things Windows. Both Valentin and me have chosen some topics that are important for us and which we want to show you once again before the year is over.
Dario TheWinDuck’s Highlights of the Year
- Windows Hello
I already wrote a lot about Windows Hello in this article and explained you how to set up Windows Hello on the Surface Pro 4 in this video. As I already mentioned before, unlocking my Surface Pro 4 works nearly all the time (95 %<) and is just super fast. Typing in my rather long password takes much longer and I would just wish that my laptop had a Windows Hello compatible sensor as well. For me Windows Hello is a highlight of the year because I really underestimated it before I got my first hands on with the technology at the Windows10devices event. There I was absolutely blown away by the reliability of Windows Hello on the Surface Pro 4 and also on devices from OEM partners. Now as I’m using Windows Hello very regularly on my Pro 4, I’m even more excited about it. It just works.
- Surface Pro 4
Actually, more of highlight would be the Surface Book since its announcement was very unforeseeable. Surface Book is just something completely different for Microsoft. Anyway, I decided that I will add the Surface Pro 4 to my highlights instead of Surface Book because it is available in many more countries than “the ultimate laptop” and of course also because I own one myself. For me the Surface Pro 4 is a highlight because it is – like every other Surface before – an incredible piece of hardware which feels incredibly premium. Moreover, Surface Pro 4 has all the latest and greatest hardware like new Sklylake processors. The pen is awesome and the new Type Cover is massively improved. And of course there’s Windows Hello, which as I wrote before is just great.

Of course for me also the launch of our new website was highlight of the year. I really enjoy blogging and with the new website it is even more fun. Once again, if you haven’t read it already please check out my introducing article.
Valentin’s Highlights of the Year
- Microsoft Band 2
The Microsoft Band 2 is another highlight of 2015. It is definitely a beautiful device that shows that Microsoft can build amazing hardware. Furthermore compared to the Band 1, the Band 2 really got improved not just only with the ideas of Microsoft but also by the feedback of the users of the Band 1.
- Windows Insider Program
The Windows Insider Program was definitely one of my highlights in 2015. It was and is great to see that Microsoft really listens to the feedback of users and that they actually use this feedback to improve their products. I think that 2015 was just the beginning of this journey and that we will see many opportunities next year to give feedback and to help Microsoft. Furthermore I hope that the Insider Program will provide even more builds next year because the Insider Program is a good thing for both Microsoft and their customers
- My personal highlight
I have one more highlight I want to mention here: I visited a Microsoft Store for the first time! It was really a great experience and my wish for 2016 is that we will see more stores in more countries! You can check out the article here.
Those are our highlights of the year 2015 and we’re both excited for 2016 and to see what Microsoft and other technology companies have planned for the new year! Please let us know what you’re highlights of 2015 were and what you are most looking forward in 2016!
