Last week Microsoft finally started officially rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to those Windows Phone users who aren’t testing builds by being part of one of the Insider rings. As I was eagerly awaiting the official rollout for many months I upgraded my Lumia 830 which was previously running Windows 8.1 Update 2 to Windows 10 Mobile on the day on which the rollout started. While I’m pretty happy with the OS so far there are some bugs and problems which I’ve noticed so far.
Action Center: App Logos are missing
This was one of the first bugs I’ve noticed. Theoretically every notification in the Action Center should have the logo of the app it’s belonging to next to it: While this works for most of the app notifications on my 830, there are also some app logos which aren’t displayed, e.g. the one of Telegram. At first I thought the problem might have something to do with the apps which are installed on the SD card but I then checked the storage place of those apps and noticed that actually not all of them are on the SD card.
Apps not working properly
I also had some problems with apps I had installed on my phone before I did the upgrade. For instance, the app “20 Min” (news apps) didn’t display the pictures in the articles anymore – otherwise the app worked just fine. Luckily, I could fix this problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling the app.
Then I also had a problem with the SBB app (train) which just crashed. By uninstalling and reinstalling I was able to fix this problem as well. So if you’re having any kind of problems with apps after the upgrade you might want to uninstall them to see if this fixes your problems.
Lock screen: Detailed WhatsApp notification missing
Last but not least I also don’t get detailed WhatsApp notifications on the lock screen anymore – on Windows Phone 8.1 this worked just fine. And it seems like I’m not the only one who does have this problem: I do know of one other person who does have the same issue. Maybe WhatsApp can fix this through an update of their app or I may have to check if uninstalling and reinstalling fixes the problem also in this case.
Of course I also noticed some other minor bugs – especially apps crashing – but overall I’m quite happy with Windows 10 Mobile on my Lumia 830 and certainly don’t regret that I’ve upgraded.
