In just three days, Microsoft is holding its next Windows 10 event in New York. Both Dario and I are really excited about the event because we expect an interesting mixture of both hard- and software announcements.
Since June, we heard many rumors about a Surface All-in-One device pointing at a release in fall. Some days later, Daniel Rubino from Windows Central added new information based on what sources told him: According to his knowledge, Microsoft was testing Surface AiO models in three different display sizes (21 inch at Full HD, 24 inch at 4K, 27 inch at 4K) while it was not clear whether Microsoft will release all those models.
While details are still scarce, various Microsoft watchers have added interesting information to the on-going guessing game: While Windows Central heard sources saying the device might be a living room product, Mary Jo Foley expects the device to be marketed as one that “could be positioned as a product that can turn your desk into ‘a studio'”. A very exciting information also does come from the Verge’s Tom Warren who hinted on Twitter that device will feature a Nvidia GTX-1080 graphics card which should make the Surface AiO interesting for gamers as well.
Surface Mouse and Surface Keyboard:
Together with the Surface AIO, we think that Microsoft will present a Surface branded mouse and keyboard. Check out this article to learn more.
Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book Kaby Lake refresh:
On Wednesday, Microsoft is most likely not going to present a Surface Pro 5 (Nevertheless Dario TheWinDuck already summed up his top wishes for the Pro 4 successor) or a Surface Book 2. These new devices will probably be announced at an event in Spring 2017. Nevertheless, there might be a Kaby Lake refresh for the Surface line which would bring Intel’s latest processor generation to the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book.
Alcatel Idol 4 Pro
The Alcatel Idol 4 Pro has been a rumor since January . Since then, pictures of the phone, a training guide for T-Mobile employees and more got leaked. These are the leaked specifications of the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro:
T-Mobile Extended Range LTE
|CPU||Snapdragon 820 | Quad Core CPU @2.15 GHz|
|Display||5.5-inch FHD AMOLED
|Camera||21 MP Rear
8 MP FF
Quick Charge 2.0
|Windows Hello||Yes (Fingerprint)|
With these hardware specifications, the Alcatel Idol 4S would be a really powerful high-end Windows Phone and the first one to support VR. It is not clear if an unbranded version will be available for the rest of the world or if it will be U.S. only.
I really hope that Microsoft and Alcatel will present this phone at the event on Wednesday because it would be a good sign for all fans of the Windows 10 Mobile platform.
Windows 10 Redstone 2 Update
Windows Insiders started testing builds of the next major Windows 10 Update Redstone 2 a few weeks ago. These builds came with a couple of improvements but we have not seen many new features yet. Now, we expect that Microsoft will share more details on planned features with the public. Furthermore, Microsoft might announce the release date of the Redstone 2 update.
