The HoloLens is one of the most interesting and exciting products from Microsoft. Nevertheless, it seems like we will have to wait until 2019 for a new version of the HoloLens. According to a report from Thurrott.com, Microsoft has changed its roadmap and decided to skip the second generation of HoloLens in favor of speeding up the entire development process. The device planed for 2019 would be the third generation of the AR headset. From the report:
“By skipping what was version two on their roadmap, the company can accelerate version three which will be closer to a generational leap and help keep Microsoft ahead of the competition. My sources are telling me that this version of HoloLens will not arrive until 2019.”
The first version of the HoloLens was shown over two years ago. While many of us would be excited to see a new version as soon as possible, major improvements to field of view and battery life could make the wait until 2019 worth it. To learn more, check out this article here.
