When we talk about Bing most of us are probably not thinking of a successful search engine.
Now, Microsoft has released new statistics about Bing showing that the search engine is doing better than expected. The numbers which are mostly based on data from Comscore reveal that Bing had a desktop market share of 33% in the US in March. More surprising is the worldwide market share of Bing. Microsoft now claims 9% and serves 12 billion queries per month.
The best markets for Bing are English-speaking ones, with Bing having 33% market share in the US, 26% in the UK, 17% in Canada and 12% in Australia. Other successful markets are Taiwan with 24% and France with 19%.
Bing is heading to $5 billion revenue per year which is more than companies like Twitter have. The 30 to 40% year over year growth over the last year is mainly driven by the Windows 10 deployment. Bing is set as the default search engine on all Windows 10 device and many users do not change it to Google.
For the next years, Bing will probably continue to grow because more and more people and companies are switching to Windows 10. Furthermore, Bing is also set as the default search engine on the iPhone, on Amazons Alexa, and Yahoo and AOL are using Bing too. Microsoft has done a lot to make Bing to even more successful search engine in the future.
