According to a report from Puget Sound Business Journal, Microsoft is closing down its Surface Hub manufacturing plant in Wilsonville, Oregon. The closure of this office will involve 124 layoffs. 61 employees will leave on September 8th. The other 63 employees will be laid off in the coming months.
The office is mostly focusing on the development of the Surface Hub. The closure of this office does not mean that Microsoft is cutting back on the development of the Surface Hub. It is part of a restructuring of operations because Microsoft wants to pool the development at its main campus in Redmond.
Surface Hub has been a very successful device as Microsoft last stated that the demand was exceeding expectations.
