Later today, Microsoft is holding a Windows Mixed Reality Event. Ahead of this event, information on the Samsung Odyssey Mixed Reality headset got leaked. The specifications suggest that the device from Samsung will be a high end Windows Mixed Reality headset. The standard headsets have a resolution of 1440 x 1440 but the OLED screen of the Samsung headset will come with a resolution of 2880 x 1600 and will offer a 110 degree field of view. Furthermore, the headset also comes with built-in headphones and dual-array microphones but you will still be able to plug in your own headphones.
The Samsung Odyssey Windows Mixed Reality headset will go on sale on November 6th for $499. This means that it will be more expensive than the headsets from Acer, HP, Lenovo and Dell and will also be available three weeks later than these devices which will go on sale on October 17. Samsung’s headset will ship together with the Windows Mixed Reality Motion Controllers.
We will learn more about Windows Mixed Reality at the event later today. Sadly, there won’t be a live stream.
