The UWP Twitter App has not been updated forever. Today, Twitter has finally updated its Windows 10 App. This update is really important because it changes the app from an UWP App to a Progressive Web App (PWA). The look and feel of the new app is similar to the mobile Twitter PWA website. It has support for push notifications. While there is no Live Tile support just yet, I expect it to be added in the future.
In the future we will see more updates to the new Twitter PWA. The huge benefit of a PWA is that Twitter does not longer need to build apps for every platform. Any change made to the mobile website should automatically be applied to the PWA. Windows 10 users won’t get left behind when Twitter changes major things in the future.
I am really excited to see PWA support coming to Windows 10 with the Redstone 4 update the coming month. PWAs should be a major improvement when it comes to app quality on the Windows Platform.
