Yesterday Microsoft has published a new Windows 10 Mobile Build. In this article I want to share my first impressions about this new preview version. I have installed the build on my test-device, the Lumia 520. For getting good impressions I have used this device for the last 24 hours as my main device. The performance is ok and again a big step forward compared to the last build. It is the first time I really think that Microsoft can manage making a good Windows 10 Mobile OS until the 6th of October.
Update: Microsoft has improved the performance but they have not worked a lot on the battery life. The battery life is still bad so that I can’t use the device longer then until 3pm when I have left the house in the morning. Furthermore I have a problem with downloading apps and app updates. Often there is a error and I can’t download the app.
Nevertheless there are still some bugs left. My phone has still problems when I want to unlock it, but it works much better than in the last build. The known issues Microsoft has published on their blog post are not very serious. None of them has interrupted my work or disturbed me.
Microsoft could manage it to make a good OS but they have to increase their working speed. The problem is that we don’t know how big the differences between the Insider Builds and the Internal Builds at Microsoft are. The performance could be much better or it could be on the same level as in the Insider Builds – we don’t know. We can only hope that Windows 10 Mobile will be an amazing OS!
There are some new features in this build. I really like the possibility to use the one-handed mode even on a smaller device like the Lumia 520. It is a very useful feature and I love it especially because Windows 10 Mobile has Hamburger Menus in some (universal) apps than Windows Phone 8.1.
What do you think about the newest preview version? I can’t wait to see your opinion in the comments!
