In cooperation with Pokipsie Network and deviceduck.ch we are currently testing various products from German networking specialist AVM – including the Fritz!Box 7490 which according to the company is good for “complete high-speed home networking”. Before we get to our final and in-depth review (to be published in the coming weeks) I’d like to give you a quick overview of the features supported by this Fritz!Box model.
Here’s what’s in the box
Now before checking out the various features, I’d like to briefly show you what is included in the box. Apart from the Fritz!Box 7490 system you’ll find…
- a power supply unit
- a 4.25-meter DSL-telephone connecting cable
- a 1.5-meter LAN cable
- an Installation Guide
Here’s how the Fritz!Box 7490 looks like
The Fritz!Box 7490 does come in AVM’s typical color combination of silver and red and features a relatively attractive design as you can see in the picture below.
Feature Overview
This particular AVM Fritz!Box model is not only good for a dual-band wireless AC + N network with up to 1300 Mbit/s but also does support the following features:
- VDSL/ADSL/WAN: Up to 100 Mbit/s for every connection
- Phone: Telephone system for IP, ISDN and analog
- DECT Base: For 6 cordless telephones including answering machine
- Network: 4 times gigabit LAN, 2 times USB 3.0/2.0
- Fritz!OS: Media server, NAS, MyFRITZ!, Smart Home, auto update
