With the Spring Creators Update, Microsoft is adding support for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) to Windows 10. The company is searching the web for PWA apps and is bringing them to the Microsoft Store.
Ahead of the release of the Spring Creators Update we start to see PWAs on the Microsoft Store. Twitter replaced their UWP app with a new PWA app. In addition to the Twitter PWA, Microsoft has released more PWAs to the Store including Skyscanner, Men’s Wearhouse and a couple of other apps.
The new PWAs are basically websites wrapped into an app. These apps can make use of features like push notifications. Twitter for example supports push notifications but these other PWAs don’t use these features.
If you’re already running the Spring Creators Update, you can find the PWAs in the Store already.
